Adult Education


1. How do I sign-up for classes?

You can sign-up for classes by attending the Adult Education orientation. For more information, call (334) 876-9369.

 

2. How much does the classes cost?

The classes are free.

 

3. My son is 16, how does he register for your classes?

If the potential student has been in the public-school system, he or she will need a certificate of exemption, notarized letter from the parent/guardian, and proof of Alabama residency.

If the potential student was in a church, private, or home school, he or she will need a notarized letter from the parent/guardian, and proof of Alabama residency.

If the potential student has been court ordered, he or she will need to bring the court order.

 

4. My daughter is 17, how does she register for the classes?

If the potential student has been in the public-school system, he or she will need a student exit interview form, a notarized letter from the parent/guardian, and proof of Alabama residency.

If the potential student was in a church, private, or home school, he or she will need a notarized letter from the parent/guardian, and proof of Alabama residency.

If the potential student has been court ordered, he or she needs to bring the court order.

 

5. How many parts does the GED test have?

There are four parts to the GED test – Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science.

 

6. How much does the GED cost?

The GED cost $30 per part; the total cost is $120. The Adult Education Program will pay for the test provided the student passes the GED Ready test.

 

7. Does Wallace have a copy of my GED transcript?

No.   

 

8. How can I obtain my GED transcript?

Go to www.ged.com and click on “Grads and Transcripts”.

 

9. How long does it take to get a GED?

The length of time it takes to obtain a GED depends upon the individual.

 

10. Do you have evening or online classes?

Yes. We have an online class, and we have a Tuesday/Thursday class that meets at 4:00 p.m.

 

11. Can I take the GED test online?

No. Your GED test has to be taken at an authorized Pearson Vue Testing Center.

 

12. How do I register for the GED test?

Go to www.ged.com. Create an account and schedule your test.

 

13. Do I have to take the classes to sign-up for the GED test?

No. You can take the GED test without taking the class. The class increases your chances of passing the test, and we will pay for your test.

 

14. Can I get my high school diploma?

Wallace Community College Selma Adult Education Program offers a non-traditional high school diploma. For more information, call (334) 876-9369.

 

The Adult Education Program provides classes in Dallas, Chilton, Lowndes, and Perry counties. GED online class is available for students who meet the scoring standards.
The Adult Education main office is located on WCCS Campus in the Administration Building Room 111. Our office hours are:
  • Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
