Alabama Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) is funded through funds provided by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL)/Employment and Training Administration and administered by the Workforce Development Division of the Alabama Department of Commerce. The purpose of the program is to provide assistance to Alabama employers to help with certain expenses associated with new or upgraded skills training of full-time, permanent company employees. Trade Readjustment Act (TRA/TAA)
The Trade Readjustment Act (TRA/TAA) provides assistance for training/retraining for students who are lacking in marketable skills. This assistance provides money for tuition, books, supplies, and in most cases a weekly allowance while in training. (TRA/TAA) is for those individuals who lost their jobs due to foreign trade. Students who think they may be eligible for this assistance can contact the Alabama Career Center in their area.
