Type: Veteran Services

Under the current Veteran's Educational Assistance Program, which will affect most Veterans and include benefits for the National Guard and Reserve members, the student receives an allowance directly from the government. The student is responsible for paying fees to the college and meeting deadlines applicable for all students.

This institution has a Veteran's Representative located in the Office of Financial Aid.

Applying for benefits for the first time? Veterans applying for benefits for the first time must:

  • Apply for admission to WCCS.
  • Complete an Application for Benefits form 22-1990 online.
  • Upon enrolling, submit either a DD-214 form showing honorable discharge OR the Notice of Basic Eligibility (N.O.B.E.) for reservists to the Financial Aid Office.

The Alabama G. I. Bill and Dependents Educational Benefits Act Grants Tuition Assistance are awarded to eligible veterans, their children, widows and spouses. Tuition is paid by the State of Alabama directly to the College.

Already receiving benefits?

  • The student is responsible for submitting a copy of his/her schedule in the Financial Aid Office. The schedule must be received before your courses can be certified.
  • Veterans who have previously received benefits at another school can transfer their benefits by submitting a Change of Place of Training or Program form.
  • All forms are available online or in the Financial Aid Office.
  • The Change of Place of Training or Program is required for any student intending to change their major or concentration, and should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office prior to the change.


Type: VOCATIONAL REHABILATION

Students with disabilities may obtain grants covering tuition, fees, books and tools through the Vocational Rehabilitation Service. Type: WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA)

Students desiring to attend the Technical Division may be eligible for job Workforce Investment Act (WIA) benefits if they are classified as a dislocated worker by the Alabama State Employment Service. Students sponsored on WIA receive tuition, fees, a stipend and in some cases tools. For more information contact the Alabama State Employment Service, Selma CareerLink, or Shelby CareerLink.



Type: ALABAMA NATIONAL GUARD EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (ANGEAP)

This program is designed to reimburse the guard member for the amount of tuition, fees, books and supplies which exceed the National Guard (Federal) Tuition Assistance available for the term. Students desiring this type of assistance should obtain an ANGEAP application from their unit and complete Section I. They should bring the application along with current bookstore receipts to the Financial Aid Office. Awards will be determined on a first-in, first-out basis as long as funds are available.
