Wallace Community College Selma Advanced Visualization Center

The Wallace Community College Selma Advanced Visualization Center located in the Earl Goodwin Theatre at Wallace Community College Selma is dedicated to delivering leading edge interactive 3D and Virtual Reality solutions for academic, economic and workforce development. Upon completion, the Advanced Visualization Center (AVC) will be a multi-component regional center of learning excellence employing advanced visual technologies. The AVC will be an environment for innovation that will enable industry, government, educators, and entrepreneurs to create interactive, simulated and immersive three-and-four dimensional learning objects and curriculum components. The i3D products created in the AVC will be placed in a shared learning object repository to be utilized in Just-in-Time, simulation-based, and distance learning environments that will enable the College to effectively train and more effectively and efficiently educate a regional workforce; to increase regional competitiveness in a global market; and to attract new corporate entities to the College's service area.

WCCS President Dr. James M. Mitchell said the new center is a timely addition for the area. "This cutting edge initiative creates an opportunity to bring together education, business and economic development as well promotes the college's role in fostering innovation and economic development in Dallas County and surrounding communities."

Following the modification of existing structures and installation of all requisite hardware and software, the Wallace Community College Selma AVC will be composed of eight (8) instructional areas and four (4) portable units.

i3D Object Development Lab, Broadcast & Studio Lab, Experience & Discovery Lab, Visual Learning Classrooms (6), Immersive Floating Model Learning Lab, Immersive Interactive Use of Force Lab, TelePresence Labs (4), Rapid Prototyping Lab, Mobile Visual Learning Labs (4).

The AVC Open house is anticipated to occur later this summer.
