Five WCCS Students Awarded Transfer Scholarships to the University of Alabama at Birmingham

SELMA, AL – May 1, 2024, Wallace Community College Selma is delighted to announce that five exceptional students have received Transfer Scholarships to the prestigious University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). This achievement highlights these individuals' dedication and academic excellence as they continue their educational journey.

La'Niyah Anderson has been awarded the distinguished Transfer Presidential Scholarship. She intends to major in Biology at UAB and hopes to become a dentist. Aya Otifah has been honored with the Transfer Pathway Scholarship. She will major in Public Health at UAB and aspires to become a pharmacist.

Jehlyen Fuller and Chloe Laier have also been awarded the Transfer Pathway Scholarship. Additionally, Keshyia Lawson has been recognized with the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship for her exceptional achievements.

Dr. James M. Mitchell, President of WCCS, expressed his pride in these students' accomplishments, stating, "We are immensely proud of La'Niyah, Aya, Jehlyen, Chloe, and Keshyia for their outstanding achievements and the recognition they've received through these scholarships to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Their dedication to academic excellence and their future career aspirations are truly inspiring. We wish them all the best as they continue their educational journey and pursue their dreams at UAB."

These scholarships acknowledge the academic achievements of these students and highlight WCCS's commitment to nurturing talent and empowering students to reach their full potential. We congratulate La'Niyah, Aya, Jehlyen, Chloe, and Keshyia on their well-deserved success and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
