Wallace Community College Selma Honors Graduates and Celebrates 60 Years of Service

Selma, Alabama - May 13, 2024 - Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS) proudly marked its 2024 commencement exercises on Friday, May 10th, 2024, at the WCCS gymnasium on the Selma campus. The ceremony witnessed the participation of more than 300 graduates out of the 471 eligible for graduation, commemorating a significant milestone of 60 years of dedicated service to students, the county, the state, and the nation.

This year, WCCS proudly acknowledged the achievements of its 57th class from the technical college program and the 52nd class from the academic college program, adding to the illustrious roster of 16,978 graduates.

Among the distinguished honorees, Drel’Keria Nettles received the Technical Academic Excellence Award for maintaining an exemplary 4.0 GPA in masonry. La’Niya Anderson was awarded the Academic Excellence Award for outstanding achievement with a 3.93 GPA.

The prestigious James M. Mitchell Award was conferred upon two exceptional graduates, Joseph Draime and D’Andre Washington. Draime, a dual enrollment student, graduated with honors in Welding Technology, while Washington graduated with honors in Drafting and Design Technology.

Mitchell, President of Wallace Community College Selma, expressed his pride in the graduating class and the institution's enduring commitment to excellence, stating, "This year's commencement is not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a testament to the enduring legacy of Wallace Community College Selma. We are immensely proud of our graduates and their contributions to our community and beyond."
