SELMA - Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS) is pleased to announce that DeAndre Washington, a second-year student majoring in Drafting and Design, has been selected to serve on the prestigious Complete College America (CCA) HBCU Digital Learning Infrastructure (DLI) Student Advisory Council. The event, held from December 10th to 12th, 2024, in Las Vegas, NV, brought together 15 outstanding students - including Washington - from various Predominantly Black Community Colleges (PBCCs), Historically Black Community Colleges (HBCCs), and HBCUs.

DeAndre Washington expressed his excitement for this unique opportunity, stating, "I am thrilled to be a part of the HBCU Digital Learning Infrastructure (DLI) Student Advisory Council and have the opportunity to showcase my talents and share my thoughts with other amazing students and faculty alike." The program serves as an excellent platform for students to voice their opinions and recommendations, potentially shaping the digital learning landscape in higher education.

Michael Walker, Chair of the Arts and Sciences Department and Music Instructor at WCCS highlighted the significance of Washington's participation, stating, "In addition to the invaluable experience gained, Mr. Washington will receive $2,000 for his dedicated involvement." This monetary compensation serves as an added incentive for students to actively contribute to shaping policies that influence digital learning in higher education.

Washington expressed his hope to share the knowledge and rewards he receives from Wallace Community College Selma with the HBCU DLI Student Advisory Council. He believes the program will benefit him personally and open opportunities for fellow students to enhance and improve their respective PBCCs and HBCCs, fostering an environment of shared learning and growth.

WCCS congratulates DeAndre Washington on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly make on the digital learning landscape through his role on the CCA HBCU DLI Student Advisory Council.
