WCCS to host in-person commencement ceremonies on May 14

Selma - Wallace Community College (WCC) announced Thursday (4/29) it will host traditional in-person commencement ceremonies Friday, May 14, on the Selma campus of WCC.

Ceremonies will be held outdoors at the front of the Selma campus at 10:00 a.m. for all academic and nursing graduates. The 1:00 p.m. ceremony will include all dual enrollment and technical graduates. Graduates from the fall semester of 2019 through spring semester of 2021 will be recognized.

According to college officials, the decision to move forward with in-person commencement ceremonies was made possible by having the event outside and following social distancing guidelines.

"We are very proud of our graduates and know that they will represent WCCS well," said Dr. James M. Mitchell, WCC President. “We wish them the very best and thank them for choosing WCCS."

All ceremonies will be live-streamed and social distancing will be required for all guests and graduates as a precaution against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
