2021 On-Campus Graduation Ceremony

Arrival:  Please arrive one hour prior to the ceremony and park in the rear of the campus. Officers will direct parking. Please read contingency plan below in case of bad weather

Regalia (Cap and Gown): Regalia (All black) can be purchased at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore on Campus. For questions about regalia, please call: (334) 876-9284.

Where & when to Report:All students participating in the graduation ceremony must report to Wallace Community College Gymnasium one hour before the published start time of their ceremony.

Ceremony Information

10:00 a.m. Ceremony: Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, Business, Computer Information System, Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing.

1:00 p.m. Ceremony: Dual Enrollment (Technical or Academic), Cosmetology, Drafting, Welding, Electricity, Office Administration, Masonry, Industrial Maintenance

Upon Arrival:  All graduating students should enter the gymnasium from the back of the gym, find your program of study, and Check-in to receive your reader care.  The reader card bears the candidate’s name and is used to recognize each candidate as they cross the stage.

Processional: College marshals (Mr. David Hobbs and Mr. Eric Allison) will meet candidates inside the gymnasium for the lineup. Graduates will follow the college marshals to the appropriate seating location. All candidates should remain standing until the ceremony begins and they are instructed to be seated by the President.

Degree Conferral:  College marshals will direct graduates to the stage at the appropriate time to receive degree/certificate.  All graduates should bring their reader card to the stage.  Nursing students will bring their pin for the Pinning Ceremony.  After crossing the stage, all graduates must return to their seats. 

Duration:  The commencement ceremony will last approximately 1 hour.  All graduates once seated are expected to stay until the conclusion of the ceremony.

Tickets:  Tickets are NOT required for the outdoor ceremony.  In case of bad weather, the ceremony will move to the inside of the gymnasium. Students must give tickets to guest prior to the ceremony in case of inclement weather.


  • Students are expected to wear appropriate business attire clothing. (Men must wear button-down shirt with necktie or bowtie…. we will have neck ties on-site if you do not have one) Sneakers and flip-flops are inappropriate.
  • Students are expected to remain seated for the duration of the ceremony after receiving their degree.
  • Students will not be allowed to receive flowers or balloons during the ceremony.
  • Students are expected to return to the parking lots for pictures with family members.

Degrees will be mailed to the address you have on file in the Admission and Records Office.

Commencement Plan FAQs:

Will I have to wear a mask?

Yes, masks will be required for everyone attending. Graduates will be given a mask; guests should bring their own masks.

Will the ceremonies be livestreamed?

Will social distancing be enforced?

Yes, we will be following social distancing guidelines to ensure a safe environment for participants and guests.

Will guests have to have tickets?

Tickets are not required for the outdoor ceremony. Eight tickets will be given to graduates if the weather is bad and we must relocate inside the gymnasium.  Guests must arrive and sit together, and they are asked to remain seated until instructed to exit.

Will the Seating Area be cleaned between ceremonies?

Yes, the area will be cleaned between each ceremony and sanitizing stations will be provided throughout the area.

Will the water be provided?

We will have water onsite for graduates and staff. We will provide available water to guest. Guest may bring a bottled water. No food or alcohol will be allowed.

Contingency Plan

If inclement weather prevents us from hosting the commencement exercise outside, we will host the event inside the gymnasium.

Students will report to the library instead of the gymnasium.

Guest will remain in your vehicles until the Police Officers inform everyone to enter the gymnasium.

Only guest with tickets will be allowed to enter the gymnasium (limited seating due to COVID restrictions) Each student will receive eight guest tickets.
