What is Copyright?

Simply put, Copyright is an intellectual property law that protects authorship including literary, musical, dramatic, and artistic original works. Because of copyright laws, original creators and those they authorized have the exclusive rights to reproduce their work. Copyright covers both published and unpublished work. Your work is protected by copyright laws the moment it is created.

What is Fair Use?

Within Copyright laws resides Fair Use, which is a legal concept that permits the reproduction of copyrighted materials for certain purposes without receiving permission or paying a fee or royalty. Some purposes protected by Fair Use include review for commentating, news reporting, teaching, parody, and academic research.
